APAM, BSc. Physiotherapy
Member: APA, SPA, MPA
Main Interests: shoulder injuries, tendon pain, surf life saving, swimming
Liam completed his degree in Physiotherapy at Curtin University in Perth, before moving interstate and settling on the Gold Coast. He chose to study physiotherapy because he has always enjoyed helping people, and had a positive experience with physiotherapy as a child with heel and knee pain. Liam loves empowering his clients as part of their rehabilitation, and takes an active approach combining hands on and exercise based therapy. His goals are for you to understand why you are injured or in pain, and what your rehabilitation plan will look like to achieve your goals.
Liam has undertaken further training in dry needling, strength and conditioning, tendon pain, and the management of shoulder injuries.
Liam has experience working with Australian Rules Football and surf lifesaving athletes. He continues to compete for North Burleigh Surf Life Saving Club, and has recently started triathlons. Liam has represented WA, QLD and Australia for Life Saving.
When not working, Liam enjoys spending time with his partner and their dog, and will often be found swimming, riding, and running.
Liam’s Story
I was born and raised in Perth, and is part of a small family consisting of his parents and one sister (also a physio!). I have always been involved in a variety of sports growing up, before settling into Surf Life Saving as his sport of choice. We travelled a lot as a family overseas and interstate, often for sporting events for myself or my sister. I think travelling exposed me to a great variety of people and cultures, and this has influenced me now in how I see the current world. My strongest memories of my childhood have always been family settings, things we did or places we went.
Outside of being influenced by my family, in particular my father, I had strong influencers at my surf club. In particular my first and long-time swim coach. He taught me a lot about success, balancing time commitments (work/sport/family), leadership, and how to overcome adversity.
I studied at Curtin University in Perth, where he completed his Physiotherapy degree before moving interstate and settling on the Gold Coast. I arrived at Gold Coast Physio & Sports Health after meeting Britt through a mutual contact, and we kept in contact over the coming 12 months until a role opened up.
