Our Service
1. Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation
The pelvic floor plays a critical role in urinary, bowel, and sexual function. Pelvic floor dysfunction can lead to a variety of issues such as incontinence, pelvic pain, prolapse, and discomfort during intercourse. Our pelvic floor rehabilitation program includes assessment, diagnosis, targeted exercises, biofeedback and education.
2. Female Athlete Health
Hormonal changes throughout the menstrual cycle can significantly impact athletic performance. Understanding and tracking menstrual cycles can help athletes manage these fluctuations, allowing for adjustments in training intensity and recovery. Additionally, athletes may suffer from the female athlete triad which is a combination of three interrelated conditions resulting in high injury risk and long term health issues. It’s crucial to address these factors early with proper nutrition, balanced training, and hormonal health monitoring.
3. Antenatal and Postnatal Physiotherapy
Pregnancy and childbirth can cause significant changes in a woman’s body. Physiotherapy can help you manage these changes, recover from birth, and maintain comfort during pregnancy. Antenatal care could include relief from back, rib or pelvic pain, core strengthening, advice on safe exercises and preparation for labor. Postnatal care would include pelvic floor rehabilitation and strengthening, addressing diastasis recti (separation of abdominal muscles) and guidance on returning to exercise safely post-birth.
4. Menopause and Pelvic Health
During and after menopause, women may experience a variety of symptoms such as urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic pain. Physiotherapy can help manage these symptoms by focusing on education, pelvic floor strengthening, managing prolapse or incontinence symptoms.
5. Incontinence Treatment
Incontinence is a common issue among women, especially after childbirth or during menopause. We offer specialised physiotherapy treatments to help with stress and urge incontinence, bladder retraining, pelvic floor strengthening exercises and lifestyle modifications and fluid management.
6. Sexual Health & Dysfunction
Many women experience pelvic floor dysfunction that can affect sexual health. Our physiotherapist can help by treating pelvic pain and discomfort during intercourse, addressing vaginismus and other sexual health concerns and providing education on sexual health and body awareness
