Andrea’s Story
I was born in Rotorua, New Zealand & lived my whole life in & around the Bay Of Plenty. To be honest I whole hearted believed that I would die in Rotorua . I never had any intention of travelling..
I spent most of my childhood growing up on Dairy & Cattle farms so we did not live in town. My only interest was my horses. One of my most memorable moments was when competing in a local show doing the high jump event my pony “George – Charlton Georgie Girl” & I successfully cleared a jump of 6’ 2” – George only stood 14.2 hands (147cm) giving us the win for the event.
When I was 17yrs old I decided to move in with my Dad & started working. My first job when I left school was as a Radio Frequency Welder (making the big curtains on the side of freight trucks). I did this for approximately 1.5 – 2 years & moved my way up to being the factory supervisor. A position became available in the stores department in the same company which I successfully obtained & worked in the stores department, reception & also in the accounts/payroll department. I then moved on & became the Service Receptionist at the local Mazda/BMW dealer – this is where I met my husband. My next place of employment was with NZI Insurance as a receptionist in the Taupo office & then moved back to Rotorua.
After a while my husband decided he wanted to travel & obtained a job at Southport (Gold Coast) Mazda & I followed over. I stared work at Allamanda Private Hospital working in the office, accounts department & payroll. After a short time I was working as the 2IC in payroll. I stayed with Allamanda for 10 yrs,.
After having my 2nd child I moved to a position of Payroll & Accounts at a Nursing home in Ashmore (Domain Annex). I worked with them for another 15yrs before being made redundant, when I took 12months off & spent my time attending boot camps 3 – 5 days per week & hours & hours at the local dog park. F
A friend of mine had seen a role advertised as Front Desk Team @ Gold Coast Physio & the rest is history!
